Aloha!!

I was asked to join the Scrapping Wonders DT. I have been loving playing around in my own Traveler’s Notebooks so I said yes. Frankly I am honored to be asked!! I know I just like to play around in my Notebook’s. It is a way to to have fun and learn.

Today I am sharing a Watercolor spread in the Watercolor Insert In the Scrapping Wonders Etsy shop.

I wanted to create a scene with Watercolors and some other mixed media on one side of the double page.

I also wanted a full page sized Black and White photo on the other side. I really wanted it to feel like we were stepping back in time. That is because when walking down this street in Tacoma makes you feel. All the old brick style building. The cobblestone streets, the train tacks that run straight through the street. You feel like time stood still for a minute.

I Used watercolor brush script to create a title for the spread I made. I really didn’t feel the need to  do a ton of journaling. I will probably make a full size layout of the photo in color, so I am not worried about telling the story in words. I wanted to create a feeling. Almost retelling history.

For the sidewalk area I used Shimmerz paste and sprays, watercolor and Gold texture luxe to get that feel of a walked on street or side walk. I wanted it to feel old and I wanted to see the texture like you see when you are really walking on the sidewalk.

I built little clusters of embellishments in the colors I used on my spread to help tie everything together. It is the scrapbooker in me that needs to add a photo and paper to my spread.

I love the Arrival tag, especially since this building up ahead is Union Station. I wonder how many arrival stamps have been added to people’s papers and luggage?!

Here is a final look at my spread. I am really happy with how it turned out, It really was a learning process. To see my process head over to Youtube or watch below..

I hope you were Inspired try something different or tell your story a little different, using a different approach.  Look forward to seeing more Traveler’s Notebook spread in the future!!

Seven Scrappy Ladies Challenge: June random 5 challenge

freckles close up

Aloha!!

I have started doing a new series with an amazing line up of scrappy youtube women. Once a month we will be doing a challenge and having fun.

This month we are using 5 random items on our layouts. This is really fun because you could have your favorite items or have some things that you don’t always use.

My 5 random items were 1. ribbon 2. bows 3. Branding strips 4. Velum and 5. a big title.  Though I may have miss interpreted the challenge, it was a really good practice to use random items that I didn’t pick or maybe wouldn’t have thought to put together normally. It really stretches you to go outside of your own style and create in a different way too.

Clique Kits: Take Note Thursday

IMG_5787

Aloha!! I am taking on frames in Traveler’s Notebook on the Clique Kits Youtube Channel. I am using their June Kit which features the Cocoa Vanilla Wild at Heart Collection. I also am mixing in a bit of the May Traveler’s Notebook Kit with my June Main Kit.

Here are some close up pics of my layout.

I filled in some of the frames with pattern paper, I wanted to layer embellishments in them and highlight the embellishments.

IMG_6879

I used both chipboard frames and the die cut frames from the embellishment pack.

IMG_6881

I really love how the June Main kit and the May TN kit work together.

IMG_6884

I loved using the exclusive Printables from the June Main kit inside all the frames.

IMG_6883

I am using a square photo to document. I am working on a Traveler’s Notebook that I started in September 2015, when I was trying to do a TN instead of Project Life to document our month. This photo is showing some watercoloring I was working on to work on my Website logo. I love that tactile why of designing things. Instead of just working digital I wanted to create something with watercolor and then digital alter it to hit in the space I want.

I love all the layered elements on this page.

SpiegelMom Scraps Youtube Channel: Twenty Five Years Later

Aloha!!

This month we are inspired by the 80s and the 90s over on the SpiegelMom Scraps Design Team. It is really fun to go back in time and think about all the things we loved and things we are glad to leave behind about our younger years.

This layout I decided to document my favorite band growing up. Thankfully I had amazing parents who put up with all the music and posters on my walls, Because My music player was definitely on repeat.  Well my favorite band is celebrating being a band for 25 years and going on a world tour.

I used internet pictures from back then and now and scrapped them.

IMG_6770

It was a bit difficult because they used lots of yellows and oranges. I took on the challenge and made a monochromatic layout.

I finished off with Just Beachin’ It and Black Tie event Sequin mixes and it was the perfect finish to my 8 1/2 x 11 layout.

I also finished my layout with some I cork U cork hearts. It added a nice texture and neutral color to this very colorful layout.
