This month is flying by… Flying. It has been a beautiful month here in Washington ad I have been busy enjoying the summer and taking the time to create as much as I can while school is off for the summer.
Today is Pep Rally and Kit Reveal Day. I know there will be lots of talent and creativity being shared on social media. Use the hashtags #click_connect_create and #ckpeprally and share or look at all the amazing July Pool Party projects.
Also here is a list of the known Clique Kits Design Team Members and Kit Subscribers who are joining in for the social media Hop.
It is always fun for me to add old stash with my new stuff. It helps me get excited about using all the product I have so I make good use out of it.
This is the layout I made using both the Main Pool Party July Kit featuring the Live Laugh Love Collection by Elle’s Studio and the Traveler’s Notebook Pool Party July Kit featuring Ain’t Life Grand by Pretty Little Studio.
This mixed media layout was so fun to make. I mixed my watercolors with my gelatos around many various sized circles to get a really cool look. I used some Shimmerz Dazzlerz and purple acrylic paint with my finger to help add some more pink around the circles. I doodled around each of the circles to make them pop. I also used a stamp set from Pink Fresh Studios that I got as an add on. there are some circle elements as well as some fun phrases.
I scattered some of the acrylic Elle’s Studio pieces in the circles. I added a ton of enamel dots, some were from this month’s kit but some were from last month’s kit too. I wished I could have used the Bella Blvd Stars though too.
By adding the acetate paper in the inside the main circle it really added some extra color to this already colorful layout. I really just wanted this layout to be really playful. I am documenting when I colored my hair dark purple last month. I love that I can be really playful with my hair and have a little fun. I love expressing myself through hair colors and things I wear.
I used the 4×6 cards for my layers behind the photo. By keeping them really natural it helped my photo really stand out.
I added the title in a semi circle around the big circle. I did a play on words with the title. I wrote Change is in the hair instead of Change is in the air. I used the Copper Pink Fresh Studio Alpha’s from the June Kit.
Lastly I scattered some die cuts from the main kit. I also added a Maggie Holmes fringe heart near my title. I love the idea of the butterfly transforming like I am transforming my look to fit my personality. These butterflies are so beautiful too.
I hope you head over to the Clique Kits Blog and see what the other Design Team Members have made with their Kits and Add ons for the July Challenge. I hope you play along too. You have all month to get your layout or project done and tag us.

Aloha!! I hope your day has been delightful! We have had glorious weather the past couple of weeks here in the Pacific Northwest Area, and we have been taking advantage of it by spending a lot of our time outside. Getting our garden ready, doing some much needed spring yard work done, also just soaking up some of those Vitamin D rays and playing with our puppy.
Today I want to share a layout I made using the June Aquarelle Kit from Clique Kits which features the Cocoa Vanilla Studios Wild at Heart Collection. It’s a gorgeous kit. It’s been really hard to know what to use first because I want to use it all.
I started off by cutting some of the exclusive cut files from this month with some from earlier and past kits. I also roughly sketch out my own sketch on some lined notebook paper. I do this when I have an idea of how I want the layout to look like. This helps me just into the groove of creating too.
I then used acrylic paint that I watered down and created a background that was ombre, I wanted it to look like a night sky going from black to blue to purple. I splattered some Shimmerz Acritonez in white and Navy to look like stars.
I glued down my cut files and then stitched lines from the top to the layout to the stars. I wanted it to look like the stars were hanging from the sky. I had a small issue with the tension in my thread so I had to compromise and only do a few lines. I then strung some of the May Exclusive Sequins on some string and hung it in one spot. It ended up being a really cool element.
I layered some embellishments up at the top so I could cover some of the really loose threads and layered some of the kits exclusive printables. The black tags from the Traveler’s Notebook printable are my favorite.
I added the middles of the star cut file on pop dots and scattered them around the layout. There were some copper stars on the Alpha from Pink Fresh Studio in the kit and I used those too. This really tied down the concept of a night time starry sky.
I also used the Wild at Heart glitter enamel dots around the layout with some of the yellow flower sequins. I was hoping the yellow flowers would look more like stars.
I simply layered some of the papers behind my 4×6 photo of my kiddos on their first day of school. I kept the layers really simple because there is a lot going on on the layout. Also I realized once I had all the cut files down I almost had no room for the photo at all. OOPs. I hate when I do that too. I really didn’t want a double page spread at all, so I just decided to cover more of the star cut file than I would have liked. In the end it all worked out fine.
I used some of the April’s kit Elles Studio white alphas with the copper ones from this kit and made a mini title not eh photo itself. I even stitched through the white alphas. I really love how that looks.
I wrote the journalling under the photo and kept it nice and simple. Other than it being the first day of school there wasn’t anything more to this photo anyway.
I finished the layout off with some gold and white Heidi Swapp Color Shine. I like the way the gold looks like stars!!
Here is my finished layout.

Today Also is Clique Kits Pep Rally. This is where the members and design team get together and all post what they are working on with their monthly kits at the same on IG. Using the hashtag #click_connect_create and #ckpeprally you can find and see all the layouts and projects with the kit that day.
I love Pep Rally day, I love seeing everything everyone else has made. It really inspires me to finish my kit up and inspires me in the next kit.
Here is the layout I made for the Pep Rally.
This layout went through the ringer until it ended out like this!! I know I have said this before and I will keep saying it, I love the journey you go through when you make a layout.
I started out by using watered down acrylic paint on the resist speciality paper by KaiserKraft in the main kit. I sprayed a few spritzes of Shimmerz spray in Eggnoggin. It left this really pretty purple with hints of gold on it.
Once I added my bottom row of layered paper things started to change for me. I thought the purple would look amazing next to the soft mint greens and coral/pink colors of the Pink Fresh Studio Dream On Collection.
The problem was with the gold and the other colors, the blue and the yellow. I just didn’t like it. But in true mixed media style I kept going. Kept working the page, it always look crazy before it looks good , right?!!
I stitched in a zig zag pattern with my sewing machine. Added some squares with pop dots and some left over hearts from the exclusive cut file.
I still didn’t like the big blob of purple and gold. I then grabbed my white gesso, which really isn’t white. It’s creamy. Mixed with the paint and spray, this color was quite different from what I was thinking or liking. Which I will say is strange, I generally like lots of colors and try to work with what ends up on my page. I think with mixed media you need to have this mentality most of the time. There are just sometimes though, when you need to know when to throw in the towel. So … I threw in my towel.
The problem is, I really liked the stitching and layers at the bottom.
So I took a piece of white card stock and cut it down to cover most of the paint and gesso. I am sad that I couldn’t use that resist paper too. It looked really cool with just the paint. There always is next time, right?! This is what the journey of learning with mixed media is about. Learning from your mistakes!!
I mirrored the layering I had on the bottom up on the top of my page.
Using some of the same elements on the top as the bottom, like those cut file hearts, and other exclusives from the Traveler’s Notebook Kit. Then I stitched the same zig zag stitch on the top.
For my photo, I took leftover bits of patterned paper from my kit and layered then under. I have lots of layering so I only used and little bit of layering. I really wanted to focus to be on the layering on the top and bottom of the page.
I used one of the journaling printables for my journaling. I layered a couple of the smaller squares from the patterned paper, along with one of those cut file hearts. I added a puffy sticker from the kit and it looked really good.
I added one of the Pink Fresh Studio mirror stickers over the Dreams on the cut apart cards on the patterned paper. It just seemed fun.
I ended the layout with some Razzle-dazzle Berry Shimmerz Vibez in Splatters throughout my layout. I like the way that added some purple without being really bright or over the top.
This layout ended up being one of my fave that I have made lately, maybe it was the journey I went on. Maybe it is just because I had to work so hard to turn it into beautiful or maybe it’s just because it is soft, dreamy and so pretty!!
I also took the time to journal about this journey I have been taking throughout this past year or so, to better myself in the scrappy world. I really feel like I have changed in a good way to make my layouts better, and true to me. I have really worked hard to learn new skills and make my layouts better on the screen. You can have an amazing layout but if you share a dark and blurred photo of that layout, nobody will notice your work.
I love scrapbooking!! It truly has saved me in so many ways. To give back I want to learn to be better. To have something I can appreciate later in life, something my family will be proud to look through and have to share with future generations.
I feel so honored to be a part of this community and to finally have a chance to learn and grow in a new way with the scrapbooking design teams I am now a part of. They have inspired me to be a better me!!

I hope you have a great week!! It’s only Wednesday so there is still so much of it left, make the most of it!!
Aloha!!! Are you like me and have an iNSD hangover? I didn’t even scrap as much as I wanted to either?! LOL!! It sure was fun though! My biggest highlight was meeting up with some local Scrap Gals ladies and chatting and doing some scrapping together. There is just something really fun about connecting with people in the flesh who love the things you do. The extrovert in me was jumping up and down knowing I am finding my tribe here in Washington and really connecting to this area.
Here is a pic from this weekend!!
I can’t wait to get together with the ladies again.
Here is a sneak peek of my double page layout for their May Challenge which was to use lots of gold, mixed media and the exclusive sketch and Cut File designed by Design Team Member Maryam.
I used the cut file with my sketch pens on the Silhouette Cameo, this feature is so much fun!! If you haven’t tried it, you really need too.
I used lots of exclusive printables that are available through the kit club. This month they are designed by Maryam and match the kit really well and super cute!!
There are also are printables for the new Traveler’s Notebook Kit Subscription that started this May. When you subscribe to the Main Kit and add the Traveler’s Notebook subscription you get a discount on your shipping price as well. There are options for getting a 6 month subscription or a 3 month subscription with the Traveler’s Notebook Kit and it coordinates with the Main kit as well.
Don’t forget too, if you use my code Hannah10 you can get 10% off the add ons in the store!!
You can also watch my process video for this layout on the Clique Kits Youtube Channel. The layouts I post there, don’t get posted anywhere else. So you may want to subscribe to their Youtube Channel so you will get notifications that I (or any of the other YT design team) posts on the YT Channel.
I hope you keep checking on and working on all the Challenges the Design Team posted in the Facebook Group this past iNSD weekend, they are open until the end of the month. YAY!! Because if you are anything like me, you didn’t get many of them started this weekend anyway. Plus what more fun is there than iNSD lasting throughout the whole month?!! 😉
I hope you have an inspiring week, my scrappy friends!! I will see you around!!
Aloha!! How is everyone doing?! Today has been a lovely day, and I am glad the days are getting nicer and warmer. It almost felt like summer here today.
Today I am sharing with you a layout I made for the Clique Kits Youtube Channel. Saturday is Old meets new theme. I had a tons of my March Play kit (Which showcases Shimelle Little By Little) left, so I decided to mix that with my new Sorbet May Kit.
The bright and spring colors went perfect together. I had fun using some old pictures from last year’s Easter. These images of my son Samuel being goofy like always crack me up. I love how is emotions are so clear on his face. Sometimes I wonder if he ate this way just to get a laugh.
I cut up a bunch of the papers from the Sorbet Kit papers and layered them throughout and on the side of the layered photos. I love how each corner and edge stick out.
Adding diecuts and puffy stickers form the main Sorbet Kit, it really added to the layers.
Overall I just wanted a fun layout to mirror my photos.

I hope you enjoyed this layout today and are inspired!!

Have an Inspiring Day!!!
Aloha my scrappy friends!! I hope this week is treating you well! I have had a busy week, full of doctors appts, school works and a little fun mixed in. That’s generally how my life looks on a weekly basis lately. Then I try to squeeze in some creative time for me, because I love scrapbooking and getting my hands dirty with media.
One of the things I have moved towards this year a lot more is this desire to tell the stories of my life, my families life. I love history and I love that we are living history lessons in the making. Even if our life seems normal to us, one day someone will look back and see how we all did things. This urge to document my story has always been a part of me, whether I was writing in a diary, taking photos, and making videos of just goofy things with my cousin, I have always been interested in the ways we can document our lives.
Now that I am older, now that I have found scrapbooking. I see that this need to tell my story for the future (whether thats my kids, and grandkids or maybe some random person who happens upon my albums at some flea market or antique store) is really just a part of who I am. And it started with the ones I love. When I went back home to visit my family it really was the perspective I needed. I seen my Grandma’s shelves filled with photo albums from over the years. I heard her tell the stories behind the photos. Even though it isn’t traditional scrapbooking, she is a scrapbooker at the heart. I remember going through these albums as a kid, and i loved going through these albums with a different lens. The lens of time. I wish I had time to write all the stories, and people who are in our family albums, because I know when she is gone, a lot of those stories will be gone. (I think that is why know I feel it so much more important to tell the stories that I remember because life is to short to hold them all in for later!)
So last night when I sat down to scrap I decided it was time to tell this story I am about to share with you. The photo I used to scrap this story, is not even from when my story takes place. But I am learning it’s not really always about the actual photo. I mean, this actual photo isn’t really all that important in the scheme of things. Except it shows us as a family interacting and having relationships like we used too. This photo could have taken place at any one of our family get togethers. Because of that it is getting used to tell my story.
I used a sketch from Sketch class I am taking by Tracie Claiborne and Crafty Jen Schow called Ready, Sketch, Go. I liked the idea of not having to worry about the design by using a sketch. Using a sketch gives me the freedom to focus on the story, which is really what I want to do. Did I add me own twist?! Of course, I find that I just have this just who I am too. I am ok with that.
I also used the April Clique Kit I received this month, it had Simple Stories Life In Color collection has its main element. This collection really focuses on capturing life, stories. The colors are fun too. I thought it would be a good base for a story about my grandfather and his need to film.
I guess now is a good time to tell the story that my layout is about. My grandfather (who died when I was in junior high school) loved to take out his camcorder, which was huge because it was from the early nineties. When ever we got together for a holiday or get together, he would place the camcorder on a counter in the kitchen and press record. The videos would be a couple of hours of coming and goings in the kitchen. The kitchen was usually where most of us hung out, and we were a big family so usually someone was in there. Sometimes there would be stories being told on the videos, sometimes it would be jokes and laughter. There was usually at some point yelling at kids, to come or calm down too.
These videos could sometimes be pretty boring, but looking and thinking back at them, it captures our family and our relationship. We would get together many times, at every holiday, most birthdays and it was fun. I have lots of fond memories of our close family. (As an adult, and being so far away, I really miss having that closeness with my family.)
Now the fact that we have ten or twelve VCR tapes with chaos of our togetherness, makes me smile. To hear the voices of all of us having a good time is something we can cherish. Of course I don’t even know if any of us can play them, because VCR’s are hard to come by.
I think about my love for documenting and know that without a doubt, I got it from my grandfather too. Only he was crazy enough to document the everyday, the common. I think about how it was just part of what went on when we were together, us kids didn’t even think about it. I love that it is engrained in my past, that now grabbing a camera is like second nature to me too. I would love to thank my grandfather for that.
Okay, now that I have rambled on, I should finish talking about this layout. I decided to add tags along the left hand side. I was thinking about conversations and speech bubbles, and how I wanted the journaling to read more like conversations that may have been had on these videos.
I kept the layout simple and only added a few papers. I made use of the cut parts Simple Stories is known for too. This camera lens was perfect because I was talking about a camera. That card was also the perfect place to add a title. I decided to have fun with the title too, my grandfather was always joking and would have loved it.
Above this 4×6 card I added a row of simple embellishments. The acrylic camera was so cute I had to use that!!
I also added an embellishment cluster at the top of the photo and the other 4×4 cut apart card I used. I kept these simple too, the hearts made it easy to do.
I hope you enjoyed this journey down memory lane!! I hope to share more story inspired layouts as a series. I think the more I scrap the more I want to tell the stories of my life, my families lives, the stories we will want to tell at the holiday tables, or get together. Stories that when we look back at them in many many years will bring a smile to our faces.
Whether things stories tell of birthdays, holidays or just everyday things these are the stories of my family that I want to tell. And I hope I have inspired you to want to tell the moments and stories that matter to you!!
Aloha, until next time, Hannah
