I am finally sitting down and using my August Malibu TN kit this month. Have you used these amazing pens? There are my favorite part of the kit!!
I am sharing a process video of a Traveler’s Notebook spread that I made using this really fun kit. I also used some of the exclusive prinatbles designed by Maryam and Lacey!! Check them out, because they match the kits perfectly.
Here is a sneak of my spread…
Yup that is some mixed media on my spread too!!
And lots of journaling. What is a Traveler’s notebook more better for than to journal lots and fill the page with the amazing pens!!

I am stitching in my Traveler’s Notebook. I am creating texture, using lots of layers.
Yes, I even stitched on my photo. It looks so cool too.
I added this small cluster on the bottom of the photo with the title. I used different tile alphas for a fun element. mixing chipboard from Maggie Holmes and a mix of Fairy Garden and Sparkle Power sequins together.
This phrase strip at the top with more sequins really helps draw your eye down the side at all the stitching and this gorgeous photo of Mt. Rainer.
I can never get tired of this view!! It is amazing!! And this view is just down my street. I feel lucky that I can see this beauty all the time, unless it’s cloudy. the grandeur of Mt. Rainer is so palpable when you see it in person. As a person you feel so small, that we are only a small part of this whole wide world!! Some Deep Stuff, right?!
I love mixing an old Maggie Holmes sticker from Open Book with the Chasing Dreams products. Look at all this great stitching. I stitched all these layers on the American Crafts White Cardstock and then used red line double stick tape to adhere it to the inside of my insert.
For the top page, I added vellum with gold roses over the patterned paper. I love seeing all that pattern through the hazy vellum. All these layers were stitched on as well.
I was asked to join the Scrapping Wonders DT. I have been loving playing around in my own Traveler’s Notebooks so I said yes. Frankly I am honored to be asked!! I know I just like to play around in my Notebook’s. It is a way to to have fun and learn.
I wanted to create a scene with Watercolors and some other mixed media on one side of the double page.
I also wanted a full page sized Black and White photo on the other side. I really wanted it to feel like we were stepping back in time. That is because when walking down this street in Tacoma makes you feel. All the old brick style building. The cobblestone streets, the train tacks that run straight through the street. You feel like time stood still for a minute.
I Used watercolor brush script to create a title for the spread I made. I really didn’t feel the need to do a ton of journaling. I will probably make a full size layout of the photo in color, so I am not worried about telling the story in words. I wanted to create a feeling. Almost retelling history.
For the sidewalk area I used Shimmerz paste and sprays, watercolor and Gold texture luxe to get that feel of a walked on street or side walk. I wanted it to feel old and I wanted to see the texture like you see when you are really walking on the sidewalk.
I built little clusters of embellishments in the colors I used on my spread to help tie everything together. It is the scrapbooker in me that needs to add a photo and paper to my spread.
I love the Arrival tag, especially since this building up ahead is Union Station. I wonder how many arrival stamps have been added to people’s papers and luggage?!
Here is a final look at my spread. I am really happy with how it turned out, It really was a learning process. To see my process head over to Youtube or watch below..
I hope you were Inspired try something different or tell your story a little different, using a different approach. Look forward to seeing more Traveler’s Notebook spread in the future!!
Aloha!! I am taking on frames in Traveler’s Notebook on the Clique Kits Youtube Channel. I am using their June Kit which features the Cocoa Vanilla Wild at Heart Collection. I also am mixing in a bit of the May Traveler’s Notebook Kit with my June Main Kit.
Here are some close up pics of my layout.
I filled in some of the frames with pattern paper, I wanted to layer embellishments in them and highlight the embellishments.
I used both chipboard frames and the die cut frames from the embellishment pack.
I am using a square photo to document. I am working on a Traveler’s Notebook that I started in September 2015, when I was trying to do a TN instead of Project Life to document our month. This photo is showing some watercoloring I was working on to work on my Website logo. I love that tactile why of designing things. Instead of just working digital I wanted to create something with watercolor and then digital alter it to hit in the space I want.
I love all the layered elements on this page.
