Don’t Ever Grow Up Using Ali Edwards Story Kits

Aloha My Scrappy Friends!!

I had been getting Ali Edwards Story Kits this past year. I really enjoyed them. I love having new prompts to tell stories I may have forgotten to tell if I was just free styling my scrapbooking.

Here is a proces video and layout I made for my Son’s 5th Birthday.

It is super simple but it really was fun working on an all boy layout, using Crate Paper’s Cool boy collection.

Hope you enjoy!!

Here is a look at the finished layout as well!!

Happy New Year!!

IMG_2040Aloha My Scrappy Friends!!

I hope everyone has exciting and blessed things planned for this upcoming year!! I love how in the New Year you get this chance to reflect on the last year and things that worked and things that didn’t. Then we all make plans to change. Sometimes it sticks and sometimes it doesn’t.

This Year my plan is all about Focus. I have been thinking about the things I didn’t like that I made habits of and what I do to change, but for the better of my life. In all reality many of the habits, and things I did this past year weren’t really bad, and some not even really my fault. I did however let things be as they were many times.

I want to Focus on my family more. They are the ones I love, right?! These years with them at this age are going so fast. Before I know it they won’t be as big part of my daily life. I don’t want to look back and say I wish I enjoyed them more.

The hubby and I have made some family goals to help encourage this Focus on Family. like unplugged days once a week, monthly outings and some other goals that focus more on being together.

I want to Focus more in my scrap room. This one may seem odd, since I am pretty prolific as a scrapbooker. I have made lots of layouts on a regular basis. So many that I don’t have enough albums to fit them in. The true hard fact is, I spend a lot of time doing a whole lot of nothing in my scrap room.

This year I was lucky enough to get an actual room, more of a me space, not in the living. Close enough though that I can still see the comings and goings of my family. I seem to be more distracted in there though. I want to Focus on getting into a routine that encourages me to be productive while I am scrapbooking. I want to get back to playing music while scrapping, recording and editing my layouts and finishing a layout in one seamless session.

I have a few goals when it comes to scrapbooking, like spending more time working on The Crafty Maven Getaway and working on starting up classes later this year. Being productive and having a routine that works with the lifestyle and work flow we have now will make me just feel good.

I want to Focus on Relationships this year. I am a people person!! There are no ways around that. This past year I really have been in my own bubble. I see whats going on around me and I have some close friends, but I really want to work harder to keep in contact with the people that matter. I want to do some meet ups with local scrapbookers in my area. I want to message and call old friends I don’t keep in contact with as much as I would like. I also want to make and spend time with some newer friends in the area. I love the online community but I also need real relationships in person as well.

I want to Focus on decluttering this year. We still have a buttload of boxes in our garage that need a home. Whether is because we need shelves for all the books we own, or whether its old kids clothes we need to get rid of. We just have a lot of stuff. I want to try to get through most of it this year and start trying not to keep things we don’t need. Being in the military, we move on a regular basis and this past duty station we were bad about getting rid of old stuff, toy and clothes. I don’t want to go into another move (whenever that is) with a lot of un need amounts of things.

I want to Focus on Training our puppy more. She has grown so much in the time we have had her. She is very active and needs lots of exercise and I want to Focus more time to making sure she gets all that and start training her. I would love if eventually she is trained as a service dog for Sam. Since she has been with us since a puppy I think this would be a good goal for her. To help us recognize when Sam is too low or too high.

I want to Focus on my photo taking. I love pictures. I may at times take too many 😉 I want to take photos with more purpose. Practice taking shots that are fun and cool. I also want to get better at editing and keeping my photos organized. I have tons of pictures from the summer until now, that I advent went through because I am not printing photos at home. I need to change that.

I want to Focus on Clean eating and a more healthy eating style. Especially with my son being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes I know how important it is for us as a family to eat right. The past 4 or so years I have slowly changed some things about the way we eat. This year though has really hit home in how important this change needs to be made and a better incorporation of this healthy eating. That means less processed food. Way less. Especially in the morning and at dinner. I want to make more homemade sauces and carb friendly sides. This summer we are going to have a garden in our yard I want to use all that goodness and maybe even try my own at some canning. Buying more local produce and buying foods that help our bodies. Hopeful this will translate into some recipes for you readers too!!

What are some things you are doing this year to make your life better? More productive and more Creative? I hope that no matter what you are spending the time with those you’ve and focusing on the things that really matter to you. Whether you planned them or not!!

Happy New years my Friends I look forward to sharing so much with you this year!!

Aloha My Scrappy Friends!!

I am sitting at my dining room table this morning. The kids are eating breakfast and watching Teen Titans, btw the theme song makes me want to watch Freaks and Geeks. That makes me chuckle.

I am eating my current favorite breakfast of toasted english muffin with peanut butter (I would rather have almond butter but we are too poor to buy that right now) and Tillamook Farmstyle Greek Yogurt with my coffee with eggnog. Yes, it’s eggnog season here now. And that means everything in my household. I think my family could live on Eggnog. The minutes it leaves the store after the holiday season it’s a sad day and the kids are asking when it is Thanksgiving again. (Because in Hawaii you really can’t get eggnog until the week of Thanksgiving)

My fingers are freezing, from taking the puppy outside this morning. It is currently cloudy, just finished raining and chilly outside. Autumn is really here. It is time to put away the shorts tank tops and flip flops. We aren’t in Hawaii anymore.

(Inserted a beautiful picture of Hawaii that makes me wish we didn’t leave. )

But then I look around and my kids are happy (and not fighting with each other, which means something in this house!!).  My coffee is hitting the spot, how could it not with eggnog in it?!

I peak at my beautiful scrap room (even though at the moment it is warming up) with fresh cut flowers from my years. I can’t believe that my Dahlia’s are still blooming. I cut three yesterday and there are about 6 or 7 that are almost ready.

The sight of my room makes me smile. It is my happy place. I really should think about playing in there in a minute. Especially since no one needs me.

But I am really just thinking about how Thankful I am this morning. Thankful for trees that have beautiful colors on them.

It has been 7 years since I have been able to enjoy the things I love the most about Autumn.

I am Thankful for food in our fridge, and heat that is coming from our vents. I am thankful for a Husband who works crazy hours and long hours so we can have all the things we need and some things I just want for fun.

I am Thankful for Friends, and waking up to Vox messages to listen too. And chatting with friends on Facebook. Friends from all over the world.

I am thankful for this beautiful house we house we own, (well technically the bank owns it until it’s paid off). Thankful for a yard my kids can run around in and my puppy can dig holes in. A yard I can plant all the flowers and Apple trees I want to in.

(Insert cute puppy picture, in which the puppy is doing something mischievous)

I am just Truly Thankful this morning!! This life I have isn’t easy, it’s not perfect. There is a lot we don’t or can’t buy (buying a house definitely pushes the budget). But We have all we need and I know God has been faithful to my family. He has provided all we needed. All we need to have a delighted heart and soul.

So even though I need mittens to take the puppy out in the mornings now, and this is a true shift and change for me. I don’t mind. I like that I was pushed out of the comfort of what I had become used too. Pushed to remember things I grew up with. Reminded of how much I really enjoyed that stuff I grew up with.

The country slower pace of life. The fresh air without being in the midst of bustling city life, (though I am glad I can drive less then ten minutes and have that stuff!). The beauty of a different type of nature.

I truly love where we live now. It’s not Hawaii for sure. I know I will dream of being back on the beaches, smelling the salty air and floral notes blowing in the trade winds. I really can see us being here and settling roots here for a while. That makes me thankful.

I hope you have thought a little about what makes you thankful today!! I think counting our blessings truly uplifts our soul.

P. S.

I want to give a bit of a shout out, to a dear friend that I am grateful and thankful to be back into the company with here in Washington. She just started a blog. She is such a great writer and she also has fallen in love with scrapbooking (I know that was a God thing bringing us together , he knew we both needed good in person scrappy friends to hang out with). She has just started blogging, and I wanted to share her blog site with you. Check it out!!

Picture It: Victoria Marie Facebook Group Online Crop Challenge

Hey my scrappy Friends!!! I hope you are ready for some Fun!! This weekend Victoria Marie is hosting an online Crop!! I love online crops! They are fun and it is nice and easier to plan to stay home and scrap all weekend then to pay to go out to a live crop (though those are fun too).

This weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday many ladies from the group will be hosting fun challenges to play along with all weekend. Monday all your layouts must be submitted in order to be entered to win a prize if there is one.

Here are the details to my Challenge Called Picture It. (It will be posted Friday night at 9pm CST In the Victoria Marie Facebook Group.)

This challenge is a combined game and layout challenge. In the hour of my challenge (9:00-10pm) I will be listing 3 separate groups of items. Each group will be named (i.e. Group A: ink pad, something blue, a liquid beverage, a punch, your favorite journaling utensil) You need to find those items and take a picture of them together. Post them in the comment section below with the name of the group. After all the groups have been announced (there will be 3) your task is to pick one of those groups and use those items on a layout. If there is something non scrappy in the group, it does not have to be on the layout. You may however take a picture of you consuming it while making your layout for extra points. When you post your layout picture make sure to say what group you used, and what your items were. You can get an entry for each step this challenge/game. Meaning, if you play the game and shared a picture you get an entry. If you post a picture of you consuming your non scrapping item while making your layout you get an entry. Then You get an entry for making a layout with one of the groups. Can’t wait to see what you find and create during this challenge!!
I will be offering a $15 gift card prize to the SpiegelMom Scraps Store to the winner. Drawing for the winner will be random.

Here Is the list I used to make my layout:

List Mojito:

  • Fav. Scrappy Munchie
  • Ink Pad
  • Something Aqua/Teal
  • Flair
  • newest scrappy purchase

Completed layout.

I love this house paper from Dear Lizzy. It is perfect for a layout about moving into a new house. It is one of my newest purchases and I absolutely love it. It’s so whimsy and fun.

I layered this clear acetate word with this die cut word from an old Dear Lizzy Paper. This stamp from Elle’s Studio is fun and adds some attention to that little cluster.

I added that same stamp throughout the layout.

I love how these photos and that journaling card looks layered.

I also added this Elle’s Studio tab stamp to the top layered papers. I choose one papers from the Wonder collection because it looked like boxes.

Look at how fun the papers look layered and with tons of edges. Since this layout is about how silly my brother is it matches the mood and tone I was trying to portray.

When I was thinking of something aqua, I thought of this date box by Elle’s Studio. I paired it with a Pink Fresh Studio house to make a cluster.

I love the pop of green that flair from Clique Kits adds to the photos. It also draws your how goofy y brother looks like in this photo!! Trying to squish done the packing paper into the box! He is a silly kind this brother of mine. I think he really just does things to make us laugh. He has always been the family comedian. This is the perfect memory to document when he came to visit me at my new house this August.

I Hope you come and check out the challenge and play along!! Have an inspiring weekend!!

Scrap Room Tour

Aloha!! I thought it would be fun to share my new scrap room. It is mostly organized the way I want it (for now at least) and then I will tweak it as I scrap more in it and see how things need to be re arranged.

This is a photo I took when we first moved in!! It’s all mine! When I first saw this room I knew it would be perfect for scrapbooking in. Lots of windows and natural light!! Amazing.

In our old place I didn’t have a room either, I scrapped in the living room. I had part of the room to store all my stuff. And then not all of it fit. (isn’t that how we scrapbookers are though we buy or have more than our space really should have)

It is glorious to have my own space, I can see the kids when they are in the yard playing. I can hear them in the living room. But I still have me space and it’s nice because I spend a lot of time in my room creating and watching youtube videos, or watching class videos on scrapbooking.

Now that we are mostly all settled in the new house, I really wanted to share my space. It still is quite small, but I like it that way. I have to be smart with the purchases I buy! I have to be smart with how I store my supplies.

Here is a picture of my crazy room, before I put the albums away and got it all organized!! Isn’t a little chaotic? I thought so. (I will admit though, most of this clutter is from the albums and layouts that needed to be put away)

This is what it looked like after I cleaned it up. Everything is within arms lengths reach while I am scrapping, which is nice!

Here is a more up close look at my window sill and desk. There were a few projects out, when I took this, but I feel like it gives a real look at what my desk looks like when I am creating and haven’t finished a layout or project. It is nice to be bale to leave it out knowing it won’t get touched, right?!

I also have a video on my YT Channel showing off my room and how things are stored right now. Things will probably get changed as I get using my room and i find out what works here and what doesn’t. That is the fun part of scrapping and having your own space, figuring out what works. How the space is organized and how much you use when it’s that way.

Thanks for stopping by!! Have an inspired week!!

Also I would love to here some fun tips on how you organize your space to be more productive!!
