Larkindesign January Projects

Aloha!!

Can you believe it’s the middle of January already?! This month is flying by with lots of unexpected surprises and lots of hard work.

This past month or so I have been playing with the new January Larkindesign Collection Out with the Old . I have been loving the variety of projects I have been able to do with them. Let me share a few projects I have made with the January collection and the Larkindesign 2018 Calendar cards.

My Latest project with my January Out With the Old Collection is an art journal spread. I was inspired by the watercolor feb of the card and wanted to mimic that on my page. I did a few different techniques like stenciling and heat embossing. Here is a pic of my spread.

This month on the Larkindesign Blog I shared my 2018 Project Life Pages and how I plan on setting that up this year. Check out that post and see tons of close ups and watch my Youtube Process video over there.

Here is a look at the full pages before I added any pictures. (I made this before 2018, I also plan on sharing my pages once I add pictures at the end of each month.)

Also this past weekend I took Sunday to just scrap for myself. Especially this past year I have mostly scrapped for design teams. It really isn’t a problem for me because It pushes me to be really on top with creating and staying prolific. I also don’t mind doing what I love to do , scrapbooking and creating. Having tests gives me direction. The thing that stinks is sometimes I put off doing certain series or using my stash more because of the design team projects.

Taking some time to create using whatever products I want to use or photo I want to use was really fun. I also took some time to cut a few cut files out.

I pulled out a gorgeous photo I took with my DSLR when my family and I went to Poulsbo  Washington that i printed a bit bigger than a 4×6. I love scrapping with unusually sized photos.

Here is a look at the finished layout!!

I went with a monochromatic look to go with the water and dock theme.  I used the Larkindesign January Cut file with some Altenew patterned paper. To adhere the cut file to my layout background I used my sewing machine. I really love all the texture that the thread and stitching gives.

I really tried to match the feel of the picture with the embellishments and papers I used. Believe it or not but I didn’t use much paper on the layout besides what is on the background and cut file. It is a change for me. However not using lots of paper allowed me to focus on finding embellishments that matched my feeling and the tone of the layout. Everything came together so nicely and it was really nice to not film and edit the video for this layout. A few pictures of my layout and I can still share it, and how could I not because I really love it. It makes me want to head for the docks, watch the boats come and go and the hear the waves crashing against the rocky shorelines. Feel that salty breeze gently against your cheeks as seagulls fly around searching for fish or other goodies left by other dock patrons.

Here are a few close ups.

I hope you are having a productive month creatively. I challenge you to take this month to set a goals or go over things you would love to try this year and make it a priority to set some time aside doing something you want to do for yourself.

I can’t wait to share with you the projects that I have cooking for February with Theresa’s wonderful designs!!
