SpiegelMom Scraps: December Design Team Blog Hop

Aloha!! It’s December and the holiday season is officially here. I hope you are excited for all the things this season has to offer.

Today is the SpiegelMom Scraps Blog Hop!! You probably came from Sarah’s blog and wasn’t it gorgeous over there?!! To follow the hop I will have all the ladies joining in this month and their links at the end of my post. With arrows for where you should follow to next.

To play along with the hop just comment on each of our blogs and on December 6th a winner will be chosen. You will have all week to hop around. There are free cut files over at the SpiegelMomScraps Blog too, don’t forget to check those out.

Last month I shared a lot of layouts that I have been putting in my Cozy album. I want this album to be a mix of Autumn and winter, especially since I know the weather where I live will be about the same, just a tad bit colder in the wintertime.

I started off with patterned paper from Maggie Holmes Shine, wood grain that has a pink ombre on it. I put this paper through my silhouette Cameo and used a silver sketch pen. I used one of the December Cut Files SpiegelMom Scraps is offering this month. The snowflakes are so much fun. I love the way they look. I squished the file down so that the snowflakes were small.

I also took time to cut out super small snowflakes in white card stock. I figured I could use the snowflakes to embellish my layouts or cards. This pink paper reminded me of the new sequin mix Build A Snowman, that is one of the new mixes the Store this December. (This mix was made to coordinate with Crate Paper’s Snow and Cocoa.)

I made this layout 8 and a half by 11 like all the other layouts in my Cozy album. I also tried to keep some of the same elements in this layout that I did with the rest of the other layouts in this album. I added and layered some white doilies in with my paper layers.

I mixed the snowflakes in with the doilies too, for added texture. Some of the snowflakes are on a pearlized christmas paper and I used some of the white card stock ones too.

It looks like snow is falling down the layout!! I definitely think doing this layout is getting me into the Christmas Spirit!

I used tile alpha stickers from Pretty Little Studio along with a few other bits from the Here Comes The Sun Collection designed by Marie-Pierre Capistran.  I love how the colors from this collection work so well with the Build A SnowMan Sequins.

The hand scripted die cut word helps give my layout a hand made feel. Something I tried to have in every layout in this album. Because I used all the snowflakes I didn’t add leaves, though I had thought about maybe cutting out some teal or aqua small maple leaves on my Silhouette. In the end I wanted to just leave it the way it was, let the silver shine on it’s own.

I added some journaling on the layout, but in my album I am also going to add my grandmother’s recipe for Christmas Chocolate Jumbo Cookies. Since that is in my journaling.

Here is a final look at the layout I made.
